    • Synopsis
    • Once Upon… is a smart, corky comedy in the grand tradition of Snatch, advancing the gangster pulp genre with the exotic flare of Eastern European underworld, heart-pounding action, witty humour and sex.
A down-on-his-luck journalist, DAVIES has two hours to make deadline with his column and figure out who’s the mysterious hitman behind a series of mafia killings. Through his re-telling of the previous day’s events, a plot-twisted, pulp world of droll mobsters and scheming double-crossers ensues, where a charming gangster, QUINCY, a character Davies aspires to be, readies to take over his boss’ operations and protect him from the mysterious hitman, while dealing with his nutcase cockney-wannabe partner, the world’s only convicted female thug and her psychopathic ex-child star partner, a brainy mistress, a deceitful wife, car chases, gun fights, more car chases, even more gun fights, and two eccentric mob heads, only one of whom will make it through the night. In a city where the ruling philosophy is to do unto other, before they do unto you, the mysterious hitman thickens the plot for Davies and hardens the day for Quincy, but it’s not until the end credits roll that we, along with Davies figure out who the mysterious hitman is that everyone was after and as the karma is surrealistically resolved, we realize that one man in one day plays many parts and that some may write for a living, only Davies makes a killing.
