    • Synopsis
    • Johan is in a mental institution for murdering his father, but believes he’s been wrongly convicted. He applies for parole, but instead receives a life sentence in the psych ward, one which cannot be overturned. Desperate to get his life back, Johan breaks out to find his mother, who can give the testimony of his father’s physical and sexual abuse, which will exonerate him. To protect himself, he takes a young girl named Tessa hostage. The two embark on a journey from the Netherlands to Belgium to find his estranged mother. Tessa is first afraid of, then sympathetic towards, her thoughtful, misunderstood captor. But as the tension between them builds, she soon discovers that anything can happen when there’s nothing to lose.
