    • Synopsis
    • Ardalan, an Iranian immigrant actor with a longing for home, decides to surprise his wife, Edita, on her 40th birthday. He takes her on a road trip with their very young daughter, Yasmin, to Rewa, a peculiar hotel in the Polish shores, which was the subject of the photo series that launched Edita’s successful career as a photographer fifteen years ago.

Anxiously waiting for permission to act in a major film in his homeland, Ardalan urges their car forward down the long road to Poland as Edita and Yasmin curiously try to figure out where they are heading to. However, soon an encounter with an upturned car on the side of the road halts their journey and they find themselves getting derailed from their otherwise joyous trip.

As Ardalan struggles to deal with the incident by the road, Edita finds out that they are heading to Rewa and is taken aback by the choice. Deeply upset, she refuses to continue the trip unless Ardalan books a new hotel. Ardalan tries hard to get to know the reason behind Edita‘s unexpected disapproval of Rewa and soon finds himself coping with the doubt that threatens his marriage.

Edita eventually agrees to check into Rewa but is unable to hide her hesitation and begins to reveal the unspoken truth about it. A cold silence overshadows their journey as Ardalan and Edita each hold on tightly to their thoughts, and as Yasmin witnesses the growing gap between her fraying parents.

Ardalan explores the off chance that he might leave it all behind, and never look back. Edita reaches out to the forsaken memories of an old love that lingers in the air of Rewa in the wake of its owner. And Yasmin retreats to her imagination and plies at the fringe of reality to enjoy her first trip to the sea.

It is here in Rewa, between a cloudy seashore and an ominous forest, where an encounter grants them all their wishes for change, if not in the way they imagined.
