    • Synopsis
    • Accepting its representations is one of the reasons why I’ve stayed far away from music for a long time. The more I hear Marc André’s “Modell”, the fewer images I “see”. So, I have found the perfect medium to associate the experience of images with music. Mark uses science and “Modell” can be seen as the sensitive representation of its original material: an exploded particle observed and measured at the ECNR*. Mark’s “Modell” is the most concrete object I’ve ever known, more concrete than
      a tooth.
The film “Modell” is not the result of science. It is built from what seems the most fragile in science: the necessity (or perhaps the habit) to use drawings and images in order to describe something - most of the time there is a slight, minute difference between a scheme and the enormity that it is supposed to be represented. The film images explore the music rationale without imitating it. They stray away from it and even compete with it. They create a conversation or a commentary: either between them and the music or sometimes between Mark and me.
