    • Synopsis
    • John Maxwell is a private detective. The cheapest in town. His clients are the ones being rejected by the serieous investigaters with a laugh. Not to despair by the banality of his cases he stylize them to major criminal cases which has led to the lost of solid contact with reality. John Maxwell is a Don Quichotte in a trench coat, who sees crime where there is no crime and who drops one brick after the other.
If he finally gets a real case, most of the times he is assigned a partner he can´t stand. The over- ambitious police officer Izmir Bingöl, who has a turkish background. Or the very charming psychologist Christine Hoffmann, who has to write an expertise about Maxwells sanity: nothing handicaps Maxwells life more than his sidekicks.
But many times it is Maxwells strange view of the world that helps him understand contexts that seem to be so beyond reality that only a crazy guy like him can understand them. Then it is up to the viewer to decide if Maxwell is going mad or if the world has been going mad.
Episode by episode pieces of a major conspiracy are revealed where the truth about the origin of women is only the beginning.
Maxwell is a idiosyncratic and bizarre format for a TV series, a mixture of crime parody and malicious satire, between „Kottan ermittelt“ and „Sledge Hammer“.
It is a format that would have come up if Monty Python had staged „Der Bulle von Tölz“.
