    • Camilo and Francisco (Fran), 15 year old friends, meet secretly in the middle of the night to launch a camera attached to balloons. The wind makes them lose control of the device and, in the midst of electrical sparks, the project fails.

Camilo’s failure on his physics project worsens his poor academic record. His interest in learning goes unnoticed by his financially troubled parents. Instead he gets punished for the antics with the camera.

While doing homework in Fran’s apartment, Camilo finds a solution to his problems: to jump from the 7th floor. Fran tries to talk him out is his idea, but Camilo seems increasingly convinced, while feeling the wind and the call of the void. As a last resource Fran offers him another way out: helium. Such absurd recourse catches Camilo’s interest. Fran engages him on a new adventure: to reach a maximum altitude.

The kids present their new project in physics class: to send an exploration space probe to the stratosphere and take pictures of earth. The teacher rejects the project. But Laura, the brightest girl in class, is intrigued. She convinces the teacher to accept the challenge. Camilo must now figure out how to build it while eluding his father’s punishment. After procuring the necessary elements in the used market (and probably in the black market as well), the boys are ready to launch it. Laura invites herself to the event and Camilo is so smitten with her, he is powerless to stop her.

The launch is successful, but the radio signal on board triggers an alarm on the Air Force radars. The fast rise and variations on the probe´s signal induces the Air Force to further investigate. They discover that a meteorological ballon has been illegally removed from storage. The Air Force declare it a terrorist threat and launch a counterattack. Two missiles are locked on to the probe’s signal. When the kids become aware of the reaction they provoked, Fran cuts the radio signal, leaving the missiles blind. This forces the officer in charge to detonate the missiles in mid air. Contact with the probe cannot be restored and the boys fear the worst.

The young friends look for the probe near the projected landing area calculated by a simulator. The night has fallen but as they reach an old factory, Camilo runs ahead when he sees the probe stuck on a damaged structure. As he grabs the probe, the floor gives way and Camilo is left hanging in the void. With no possibilities of being helped, Camilo tells Laura and Fran to save the probe. All seems lost when Camilo falls, but suddenly, a steady hand holds him back to life. The Air Force officials have discovered the identity of the group and the nature of their work.

They find them just in time to save Camilo. His parents had helped. They embrace their child realizing what a brave boy he is. Camilo has shown his father he can accomplish his goals, and discovered what he is made of.
