    • Synopsis
    • The film starts with the poor girl who walked into the rainforest on the break of dawn to help her father in the rubber plantations. Her childhood was full of mysticism, brought by the laws of the forest taught by her Uncle Pedro and the religious teachings of her Grandma Júlia. In this context, Marina shapes her perception of the world. At the age of 15, she loses her mother. After several diseases throughout her childhood, at the age of 16 she takes the first - and perhaps the most important step of her life: she goes on her own to the capital (Rio Branco) in order to find treatment, to study and to dedicate to the religious life.
Literate by the Mobral (the Brazilian Movement of Literation), she carries on her school and religious studies with enthusiasm. During a mass with Dom Moacyr, she learns about the deforastation in the Amazon rainforest, and the ideas of the Liberation Theology become clear after a class on Union Leadership with Chico Mendes and Clodovis Boff. The meeting with Mendes and the partnership that was born between the two changes her destiny forever.
Marina joins the political struggle to defend her ideas and the rainforest where she was raised, and where her family and friends still lived. Very dedicated to her studies, she graduates in History and is elected Councilwoman in Rio Branco, beginning a long political path, which culminated in the almost 20 million votes received at the presidential elections in 2010. Marina becomes one of the most important environment international leaders.
The movie tells the story of the brazilian Marina Silva, who dueled against her fate of exclusion to become, in many aspects, way ahead of her time. Despite being from the countryside - or perhaps because of it - she developed a vision in which the world can only be a better place if the conditions of living, health and environment are better for everybody else. Never before has a girl from the countryside been so universal.
