- Farrell is a 48 year old man returning by ship from somewhere in the far north. He has come back to get away from everything, he has comme back to see if his mother still lives, he has come back because no one on a ship will ever trust him again, because he no longer knows the state he is in nor if anything might happen that could change his mindset, something that might replace his next drink as the best thing in the world. He has come back because before he left he shared his mother's bed, at night, after thousands of empty glasses had once again been filled with liquor. Farrell would arrive at home, drop his trousers and underpants and, without asking, execute. One day, without really knowing why, instead of taking the route home, he climbed onto a ship and vanished for twenty years.
