    • Synopsis
    • One of the most fascinating female characters in Asian literature, "Lady Boonlueng," offers a groundbreaking retelling of the Thai classic erotic novel "The Story of Jan Dara" from the perspective of Jan's obsession, Lady Boonlueng. This fresh take on a timeless narrative explores the complexity and multifaceted nature of femininity, sexuality, and power in 1930s Thailand.

Lady Boonlueng, also known as “Lady Bee,” a beautiful Malaysian, is invited to join her Thai husband, Khun Luang, in Thailand with their teenage son, Kajon, after living apart for sixteen years. When she arrives at her husband’s sprawling estate, she is shocked to discover that he’s married another woman, Waad, who has given him a daughter, Kaew. More shockingly, Khun Luang expects his two wives to live under the same roof.

Lady Bee’s first instinct is to return home to Malaysia, but her son, who is about to enrol in a prestigious military school, begs her to stay, so she relents for his sake. However, with Khun Luang constantly cheating on her, Lady Bee’s relationship with her husband quickly deteriorates, and she soon shifts her attention to Waad’s nephew, Jan Dara, and her husband’s daughter, Kaew, two youngsters craving affection. As the three become emotionally entangled and dark family secrets resurface, the fragile balance of the household threatens to collapse.
