Tomas, a black adolescent boy forced to flee Colombia’s Pacific coast because of the war, is trying to make his way in Bogotá, a traditionally racist city. In Bogotá he begins a desperate search to find his younger brother Jairo, who has been swallowed up by the streets and crack cocaine. Alongside his older brother Chaco, who sees illegal migration as the only possible means of escaping marginalization, Tomas sets off on a voyage of initiation into Bogotá’s Afro community, discovering a network of spaces forged by the city’s black population. The city in transformation forces Tomas to test his mettle and set aside his fear, nostalgia and wounds from the past to start over again at 2,600 meters above sea level, and far from the sea.
