- Synopsis
- Kindling is a heart warming and uplifting ensemble film that looks at masculine identity and how young men deal with grief. It follows a young man (Sid) with terminal testicular cancer who’s been told that this is his final summer alive, and so his four closest friends come back to the place they grew up for their final summer together.
  
  Sid is worried he’s going to be forgotten. With his obsession for astronomy and the atmosphere, he comes up with a plan to bring everyone together and make this summer (and him) unforgettable. He gives each boy a category - either love, home, friends, family and location. He asks each of them to find an item that connects themselves, Sid and the word they've been given. They will spend the week building a fire and at the end of the week they'll burn all the items on it, a ritual that Sid believes will make him last forever.
  
  Without realising it, it might not be the ritual that will make Sid last forever, but the way in which he has deeply affected those around him in his final months alive.
