Tavistock Films won a bid to make a film for Tower Hamlets Council (London)on Hate Crime (Homophobia) working with youths in the area. The group we chose were 17-19 year old Bengali young men from the Wessex House Youth Group. The story, acting, camera work and music was done by them under our supervison. Feedback has shown us that they not only learnt film making skills but also that Hate Crime can affect many groups and that people need to respect one another. The story... Gary is a young gay man trying to study at college but he is bullied and beaten by other boys. In desperation he attempts suicide. When this fails he goes to counciling where he finds his tormentors have problems of their own.
