      On decemebr 12, 1963, the flag was raised for th efirst time. we became an independent nation with a flag, a national anthem, a constitution. the future looked bright. Full of anticipation, the then sons and daughters of Kenya were energized with the vision and determination to fight poverty, disease and ignorance. With no prior history of nationhood, the peoples of Kenya were determined to work together to build a nation that uses diversity as its strength and where the expression of different views and voices was allowed
