- Synopsis
- In near-future Phnom Penh, the rich are augmented with nanotech, and new skyscrapers crowd the skyline. In Tralop Bek, a tight-knit community being cleared out for a development project, 13 year-old Leng Heng has vivid dreams of his past lives, and of a gold statue. He and his friends are convinced he is meant to find the statue in this life to save their homes, and seeks out help from neighborhood detective Srey Leak. Together they follow clues across town, and into the past. Things take a strange turn when they discover that Leng Heng is inexplicably augmented, and that his software is over ten years old. As they delve deeper into the mystery, Leng Heng’s very sense of identity begins to unravel. When it becomes clear that the stakes are much higher than they imagined, they must decide how far they are willing to go to get their treasure and the truth.
