    • Synopsis
    • The documentary José & Pilar is a portrayal of the relationship between the Nobel Prize winner author José Saramago and Pilar de Río, from their home and in their travel works throughout the world.
José & Pilar covers the creation, production ans promotion of Saramago’s novel The Elephant’s Journey. The story within the book works as a metaphor, throughout the film, of Saramgo himself. Thus, the harsh voyage of the elephant from Portugal to Austria reflects the writer’s personal challenges, as he juggles his work, his health and the love for his wife, Pilar.
