Along unknown roads and hidden streets, the night of 150-year-old Italy lies all in its left-aside stories. Among wild fishermen and forgotten shepherds, old lunatic asylums with stone books, mysterious wheels where children were abandoned, concentration camps, schools in danger of extinction, the new history of Italy is in its beautiful darkness, where you get lost, clinging to frail stars. What has become of nowadays’ Italy? How many versions of Italy are there? “Italian nocturne” wants to depict and illustrate this country with a series of episodes and portraits. Behind history’s events, the documentary shows a selection of frames from Italian boundaries, inhabited by forgotten shepherds, fishermen, beheaded statues and abandoned kids.
