    • Synopsis
    • “In the name of the Cup” is a gritty revelation of one of the most popular sports events in the world. It seemed like brilliant idea hosting the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the most football-fanatic country on the planet. Little did they expect that it would become the focus of some of the largest protests Brazil has seen in decades. This mass civil uprising began in June of 2013 and it surprised even the most jaded Brazilians. While television cameras broadcast the passion for the game worldwide, Daniela, a chilean young woman, discovers the deep confusion and anger that most Brazilians feel regarding the biggest sports show in the world. We approach to a country strikingly different from what is shown on TV, and we met people rising up and organizations mobilized to resist the abuses committed in the name of the Cup.
