- Synopsis
- General He Ying (Donnie Yen), a traitor of the Ming empire, is defrosted in modern day Hong Kong. After his antics bring the city to a halt, he flees to Beijing where the time travel-enabling orb is located.
  Old enemy Niehu appears, threatening He Ying’s romantic interest May. May and He Ying become trapped in the room of the orb and end up travelling to 1927, the 16th year of the Republic. Shortly thereafter, they find themselves back in He Ying’s home village, Tao Yuan, in the Ming.
  He Ying tries to convince the village to leave and move West, having read the fate of the village in a book in the future.
  Sao returns to the village, too, but appears oblivious to the trip to the future.
  He is lulled into a dinner with the Excellency. This leaves the village defenceless against Japanese invaders. Seo finds that Niehu has been colluding with the Japanese.
  He Ying is asked for the secret chant in return for the villagers’ lives. He refuses and they are slaughtered. May is shot in the heart with an arrow, but her iPhone breaks the force and she survives. Niehu kills Seo.
  He Ying enters the Forbidden City and a sword fight ensues. The chant is again demanded of He. The fight continues in a time vortex; when they fall out, May is shot and the Japanese captured. May dies but in a vision, it is implied to He Ying that taking another path (the left) may help undo all that has gone wrong.
