    • Synopsis
    • I Pay for Your Story is a devastating portrait of post democratic America not shown in mainstream media. The camera humanizes the storytellers despite the fact that their tales of institutional brutality are about their dehumanization. The characters in the film have raw natural poetry. It openly speaks about race and class in way that is never discussed in the US. It clearly shows how people are living in the former neighborhoods film director Kowalski grew up in and how they have been crippled by pervasive poverty and the invisible prisons of institutionalization. The film is about the lives of brutalized people but also about their beauty.
