    • Synopsis
    • Gay Gardens is where two men live, they’re lovers and best friends, and they have a fulfilling life inside a large estate in the town of East Hampton. Johnes, the older man, dubbed the estate “Gay Gardens” for the happiness the extensive grounds provides them with. His younger lover of 15 years, Mario, is a French young man who adapted quickly to the eccentricities of Johnes.
Johnes has a larger than life attitude and can portray any character, from soap opera divas to Shakespearean versions he will produce for his premiere comeback into the show business.
Mario was a trained cabaret artist and prostitute in Paris before he finds his other-half and moves to America, marrying Johne’s sister for a green card and to be with his lover.
The film is a mockumentary that follows them for a few days in their East Hampton estate, where they share their talent, as singers, actors and dancers. They put on scenes from productions, sing from popular musicals and show their daily lives, from reading charts to taking care of their beloved happy gardens, which they carefully maintain.
