Phillip (Bastian Trost) lives in his own quirky and isolated world. During the day he works in the cave of the Central Reserve Bank, where he checks the authenticity of banknotes. The evenings he spends at the bar of a local cabaret, where he finds his view on the world confirmed: People are completely rattled!
When the blind cello player Lina (Katharina Schüttler) stumbles against his table and into his life, Phillips world comes off the hinges. He unexpectedly feels attracted to the young musician, who, despite her disablement, faces him without fear. Phillip is impressed by her courageous appearance.
When Phillip returns home, his orderly life ultimately collapses: His apartment has been burgled, all his belongings are gone. Finally it is no longer possible for him to retreat from life.
