    • Synopsis
    • Paraya is a cathartic coming of age portrait of a defiant young woman during the most
trying hours of her life, when both her love and the security of her family are threatened by
events that are out of her control. Her journey tests her resolve, question both her
womanhood and her freedom to love and lay bare the underlying prejudicial tensions in her
world that preordain who she should be and who she may love. Through Nirvana’s journey
we discover a character that is not prepared to be a victim of circumstance in an unjust
society, she challenges the level of agency that others dictate to her and fights by whatever means available to her for all that she holds dear.
