    • Synopsis
    • Set against the backdrop of Rome and the south of France, “For You” is a romantic comedy / drama about two men – father and son – who discover love and direction in their lives.
Twenty-five year old Vittorio Battisti lives a fortunate life. Son of the founding partner of Europe's most influential law firm, he has looks, charm, intelligence, money, and a gorgeous fiancé, Marina – yet he is deeply dissatisfied. A fledging law graduate, he has been groomed to take over his father’s firm but has no interest in practicing law. He would rather pursue an artistic life – through writing, as his mother has done, through painting – but has never dared to broach the subject with his parents, for one very important reason. His father, American-born Carlo Battisti, built his fortune from the ground up in the eternal city, winning the hand of the elegant, cultured Countess Teresa. A magnate in Rome now, Carlo suffered the most grievous blow of his life when his elder son, Ascanio, a Carabinieri, was killed in a bombing in Iraq. Since then Carlos’s relationship with his wife, as well as his relationship with his remaining son, has suffered, as he proceeded to focus his energies in protecting and promoting Vittorio. No one speaks of it, but it is understood: Vittorio is heir to the throne.
All that is about to change. Just as a stone dropped in a pond will create a ripple effect, when Vittorio, on the eve of his law school graduation party, discovers that his fiancé, Marina, with whom he has at best a dispassionate relationship, has been having an affair with his best friend, he eschews the gala graduation celebration at his family’s villa in favor of a graduates’ party in downtown Rome and ends up meeting Eva, a beautiful French girl. Immediately struck by Eva, who has suffered her own misfortunes, Vittorio decides to take a road-trip to France to visit her, traveling on his beloved, old Vespa. Before he goes, he tells his father that he has no intention of taking over the law firm. Carlo is enraged and hurt, but Vittorio leaves.
What follows – Vittorio’s quest to find his own path in life, and Carlo’s realization that he has been ignoring his son’s true calling, as well as his relationship with his wife – ends by reuniting father and son and rekindling Carlo’s relationship with Teresa. Ultimately, “For You” is a story of new love discovered – and old love rediscovered – in a setting that will ignite the passions of everyone who seeks his or her own road in life
