    • Synopsis
    • Danielle is a rich and beautiful middle aged woman. She lives in the best part of town, her husband is the epitome of the successful businessman and her two children are both doing well at Ivy League colleges. But Danielle is not satisfied. Something is missing from her life and marriage.
Sensing that doing “good works” night help her regain some sort of purpose in life, Danielle persuades her husband to put money into the creation of a downtown refuge for the homeless. There, once a week, Danielle goes to serve soup and succour to the rootless men and women who live in the underbelly of the great city.
However, her acts are not simply charitable. During the course of her work Danielle has discovered something that she barely dares admit, even to herself: she is turned on, sexually, by the men and women she helps. The dirtier they are, the more squalid their lives, the hotter Danielle’s passions for them run.
One day Danielle encounters a young homeless woman in the mission. While no less grime infested, she seems to have an intelligence and independence that mark her out from the crowd. Danielle becomes obsessed with her and when the young woman reappears, some weeks later, Danielle follows her. She enters a long, dark tunnel. At the end of it Danielle discovers an underground world where the young stranger, Greta, and her brother, Ronald, are the leaders of an obscure cult. The cult’s aim is the pursuit of sexual pleasure through filth; more specifically, the filth and garbage of the rich and powerful.
Danielle is so excited by what she sees and hears that she betrays her position and is captured by the cult. They imprison her and eventually subject her to a “dirtying” ritual; after which an orgy of filth ensues. Danielle experiences the most amazing sexual release. She feels liberated and fulfilled for the first time in years. She soon becomes an enthusiastic and full time member of the cult. All thoughts of her former life are abandoned.
Her husband Jim is beside himself with grief at the loss of his wife. He realises now, for the first time in years, how much he really loved her and that he will do anything to get her back. He hires a team of private investigators to find Danielle and they track her down to the underground sewers.
At first, she rejects her husband’s pleas. She’s moved on. She can no longer love someone so CLEAN... Well, Jim figures, if that’s the way it is, he’ll beat them at their own game. He’ll become the filthiest thing she can imagine. And so begins his own odyssey into the underbelly. An odyssey that culminates in the spectacular destruction and negation of all that he formerly held dear.
Finally, with his house in flames and his career and finances in tatters, Jim heads for a nearby medical waste facility. Stealing a mass of used, soiled bandages he wraps himself up like a mummy and makes his way to the underground hideout.
His arrival stuns the cultists. But there is more to come. Jim’s investigators have uncovered the real identity of Greta and Ronald and their origins in the safe, white suburbs. Denouncing them in front of the group as middle class poseurs, Jim points out that he and Danielle are the real rebels: for they had it all and turned their back on it. That’s true subversion and not the predictable bourgeois envy that is the group’s sole motivation.
Witnessing his glorious acts of faith, it dawns on Danielle that she didn’t need to go so far from home to encounter the most exciting man of them all. No-one was ever sicker and filthier than the rich; they just have to fully accept the truth about themselves.
Turning her back on the underground cultists, she embraces Jim and they head off for the real beginning of their life together. A life of filthy love.
