    • Synopsis
    • EVIE MORGAN, a wistful young woman fueled with a colorful imagination, lives with her overprotective brother FREDDY in Brooklyn, NY where she is a neighborhood fixture and resident good heart at a local flower shop.
The film opens years before the main action, when teenage Evie (13) is on the verge of being institutionalized. For reasons vaguely referred to by her doctors as an incident caused by ʻtoo trusting in strangersʼ Evie has not uttered a word for almost a year. While the doctors retreat to the next room to negotiate Evieʼs fate with her brother and caregiver, a pickup truck stacked high with grates of freshly picked apples comes to a halt outside the examination room. Two teenage farmers ride out back. One of them (SILAS - 18) sees the young girl standing forlorn by the window. Touched by her quiet despair Silas carefully selects a beautiful apple and tosses it to her with a cute, somewhat impish smile.
The apple seems to posses magical qualities: as Evie bites into it, her world immediately brightens. A smile crosses her fate and words of gratefulness pour from her lips, just in time to convince the doctors not to sent her away.
Nine years later we find Evie (22) at her typical self, a neighborhood angel helping others to navigate their lives. On a break from work she picks up some apples at the Korean deli next door. Biting into one of them, Evie is convinced the apple is the same kind she received from the young apple farmer years earlier.
Overflowing with sheer emotion, Evie fantasizes about the young apple farmer and that he is picking these apples just for her, as tokens of his love and a call to find him.
Freddy, an intense mix of worry and anger, is torn between genuinely wanting to cure Evie from such unhealthy and arguably insane fantasies or freeing himself from the burden of taking care of his nutty sister altogether. Freddyʼs frustrations donʼt exactly make Evieʼs life easier. Nor do the unwanted romantic overtures from a neighborhood weirdo, preying on her after work.
When Evieʼs fantasies about her apples begin to take a life of their own, and living under the control of Freddy becomes too much, Evie hits the road and - guided by the number # 94317 stickers on those apples - she sets out to find the man of her dreams, who she surmises runs a gorgeous orchard somewhere in the mythical apple country of Ithaca, New York.
As Evie negotiates her way along the backroads of the American dream, Freddy is setting out in pursuit to save her. Assisting him on his chase is their next door neighbor CHAD, a male model with a more romantic view of love and life than Freddy and a soft spot for Evie. As the two pick up Evieʼs trail, we sense Chadʼs real mission is to protect Evie from Freddy, if they should even find her.
Meanwhile Silas, now in his late 20s and instrumental in having created the amazing, almost magical crop of apples that Evie is so smitten by, learns that the orchard is in danger of being sold to developers, who plan to cut it down and turn into a gated weekend retreat for rich city folk. Idealistic to the point of self- destruction, Silas is committing himself to save the orchard, regardless of the consequences to his own life and well being.

Guided on her journey only by her intuitive self and her trust into signs she picks up along the way, Evie encounters a host of strange and colorful characters and situations: the heavily pregnant REBECCA, who is chasing the runaway, already married father of her baby; dozens of BRIDES & GROOMS practicing for a Korean mass wedding, carefully following the footsteps of societal and cultural conventions; the crazy gambling addicted Vegas style couple WADE & SALLY, itching and scheming to profit from Evieʼs uncanny intuitions and luck in their chase for the big jackpot; a lonely orphaned teenager and his younger siblings trying to entice Evie to stay with them at an abandoned farm; and the developers GEORGE and BURLIE, ready to blow anything and anyone away who gets between them and their real estate dreams, including that idealistic nuisance Silas.
All are using, some even abusing, Evieʼs genuine ability to offer unconditional love, almost to the breaking point of Evieʼs own faith in it. But in a wondrous sequence of set pieces, culminating in a storm that races through upstate New York, the various subplots (and variations on the meaning of love) are resolved, Evieʼs faith in love restored and the scene is set for the realization of Evie own romantic dream.
Will she arrive in time to save the orchard from destruction and Silas from himself?
Evieʼs Apple is a modern fable about true and unconditional love, charming and occasionally pulling the heart strings, but also not afraid to take a look at the darker aspects of romance and love.
At a time when most of the world is facing a life of great uncertainty, we meet in Evie Morgan a very timely yet unusual character, a wistful girl who stands in contrast to the world around her: intuitive, caring, trusting, warm hearted and seemingly fragile, one could mistake her for a dreamer.
But once we go along with Evie on her journey we realize she is quite the opposite of a dreamer: her firm believe in the immaterial and universal nature of true love and her dedication to offer love to all she encounters allows her to triumph in a world, in which the more self-obsessed and greedy characters are in danger of being swallowed by self destruction, greed, perversion and despair - until Evie sets them right.
At the end, Evie finds the love she was looking for and her dream is realized, albeit in unexpected ways. Along the way of this adventurous road trip she has discovered strengths inside of her she was not aware of and the quality to not only bring happiness to others but also to herself.
