- Synopsis
- Felix Grandet tyrannically rules the humble provincial house where he lives with his wife and daughter Eugenie who lead a precarious and joyless existence alongside him. The extraordinarily avaricious Grandet does not look favorably upon any of the fine gentlemen who plan to ask for his daughter’s hand. Such a marriage would require a significant dowry and, as
