    • Synopsis
    • A fictional love story set during the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. It is the morning of August 21st, when the future of the nation was turned upside down in one swift motion. Two young men, Tomas, a Czech citizen, and Lebedev, a Russian soldier both share the same romantic dream of escaping to the west.
Tomas plans to take off to England for a summer job working the strawberry fields. His farewell party with friends turns into a nightmare the following morning after his father receives a suspicious phone call. Tomas rushes to the train station but Prague’s streets are empty and no trains are in service. He decides to wait a few days and spend some romantic time with his girlfriend at her country cottage. The situation gets more complicated when she reveals to him that she’s pregnant with someone else’s child, and even more so when they run into Lebedev who has just escaped from the Soviet occupational army.
