    • Synopsis
    • Playwright Paul Halpern (David Paymer) can't buy a break. When his dates don't stand him up, they turn him off. His bizarre friend Sam (Judge Reinhold) not only steals all his food, but secretly sets about making a documentary about what's wrong with Paul - interviewing not only Paul's parents (Peter Falk and Bea Arthur), but former girlfriends and his colon hydrotherapist - all of whom have a few positive things to say about him. After Paul is abused beyond belief by one of the worst blind dates in history (Marilu Henner), he probably ought to give up entirely. Instead, he meets Carla (Rosalind Chao), a theatre director who is ideal for him and who badly wants the chance to direct one of his plays. Unfortunately, that play was cursed - or so Paul believes - by Regina (Christina Fulton), a mysterious woman in Paul's past. And by the time he explains the curse to Carla, he's lost her. Winning her back won't be easy.
