    • Synopsis
    • Elvira Arellano worked without legal documents at the International Airport in Chicago. After the attacks of September 11, the government of the United States began a series of raids throughout all the airports nationwide. The objective was tracking down terrorists. Elvira and other immigrants were arrested. She was presented with an order of deportation. With this action they sought to separate Elvira and her US born son.
Consequently, Elvira fought for the human rights of her son and all immigrants. To avoid her deportation, she took sanctuary in a Methodist church, defying the American government and consolidating herself as a symbolic figure in the immigration conflict.
