    • Synopsis
    • Young people from the Medellín slums have particular (and poten- tially lethal) means of locomotion: they move through the city streets and slopes by hooking up ther bicycles to the rear side of buses and trucks. In a way, the practice of “hooking” is payback against social and emotional oblivion by a marginalized generation that eagerly fights to feel alive. And “Piro” Higuita Marín sets in motion that possible perspective on such a peculiar phenomenon, contaminating herself with her character’s vertigo and freedom.
Almost without knowing each other and for very different reasons, Jhon and El Poroso decide to fulfill their crazy dream of seeing the sea for the first time, travelling through the dangerous Urabá road
(the danger is the more literal one of precipices, sure, but also another one more related to the country’s violent past). Starred almost entirely by non-professional actors, The Road to Urabá is both a road movie on a bicycle and a luminous journey of initiation, sorting death through Colombia’s crude reality.
