    • Synopsis
    • Ñico Mota, Montecristi renowned accordionist, dies at the age of 90 years and Tomasín, one of his musicians, steals and sells his musical instrument. At the funeral, the thief deposits the accordion case in the casket with a phone book inside and sell the instrument to Ñico Mota's rival, the famed accordionist King de la Rosa. The ghost of Ñico reappears and claim his earthly possession. Larguito, the trio drummer, shares his supernatural experience with Tito, natural son Ñico, and his longtime fiend Choco, goldsmith and repairer of musical instruments. Tito has excelled as an accordionist repairer, and also as a musician, through the teachings of his godfather Choco. Maria Canela, a Bachata singer that is in love with Tito, announces that she will seek fortune as a singer outside of the little town of Montecristi, where there are no progress opportunities. The announcement leaves Tito devastated and motivates him to retake the same path of his beloved. As the opening act performer participating in the famous festivals typical of the region, he starts rubbing shoulders with the best exponents of cibaeño merengue rhythm. King de la Rosa , knowing that the boy is the son of Ñico Mota, makes every effort to present obstacles that leave the boy badly shaped in front of audiences. Tito's allies assist and protect him on his adventure, promoting the famous duels of accordions. Through a series of ingenious and amusing circumstances, Tito ends up winning the match to King of the Rose and ranks as one of the finest examples of traditional merengue and worthy son of his father. At the end, Ñico Mota's accordion is returned to his grave and from above, those present at the ceremony, listen to the flourishes of the great musician at the gates of heaven.
