    • Synopsis
    • Professor Samuel S., leading neurologist and researcher specialized in memory capture, is having a hard time dealing with Eidolon, the foundation financing his project. He decides to direct his lifetime project on his own: being able to transfer memories of a dying person in a virtual space dedicated to post mortem examination by their relatives. Nevertheless, Eidolon is not willing to let him go away, keeping to himself the secret of his precious and likely lucrative discoveries. Stuck between family issues and destructive isolation, Samuel will soon defy the world surrounding, and is about to cross the dangerous borders of reality...Eidolon is an interactive installation. Created in 2011 with the support of Le Fresnoy, it gives its experimenter a unique chance to dive into a whole new virtual world, to visualize and explore a fictionnal narrative via an image synthesis based process derivated from the video game software Cryengine. In short, it ameliorates what experiences such as the ones a video game can provide and therefore offers a complete new perspective on virtual reality and its effects on us. Interactivity is elaborated within a Head Mounted Display, and enables the experimenter to interact with the environment they are placed in. The purpose is to take part into an incredible experience enhanced with fully constructed narrative, a new type of relationship between spectator and simulation.
