    • Synopsis
    • Investigative documentary about the bloodiest chapter in the history of the South American continent that took place exactly 150 years ago, and the female characters who lived it and disappeared under the dead bodies of soldiers and the indifference of history.
In 100 minutes, an account of battles, strategies, death, victories and conspiracies during the 5-year campaign of the Triple Alliance (1865-1870) in the nineteenth century, becomes the setting to "portray" women with exceptional personalities and biographies who, voluntarily or involuntarily, participated intensely in the war, paying an unjust price and enduring its dramatic consequences. However, they did not go down in history.
The investigative documentary concept is supported by the pursuit to reconstruct an image of these women: who they were, how they lived, and ultimately what led them to the war.
The protagonists in the photos, and "thematic cast" of the accounts, are Brazilian women such as Jovita Feitosa, Ludovina Porto Carrero or Colonel Moura’s sister; but also Argentine women (the Corrientes captives), Uruguayan women (China Catalina, Doña Juana Valentin), Paraguayan women (Pancha Garmendia, the Lopez family women, Francisca Cabrera), French women (Dorothea Duprat de Lasserre) and the Irish woman Eliza Lynch, Solano Lopez’s controversial companion and mother of his children. So many women considered historically irrelevant for over a century and regrouped in textbooks and military reports under general denominations (not always flattering) of Sutlers, Residents, Chinas, DESTINADAS or Traitors.
All accounts coalesce around a documentary protagonist-investigator who is also the only fictional character.
At 24, ELISA is a young VLogger and Fine Arts student. She is brave and determined and her worldview matches the size of her audacity. Moved by the genuine desire to act as a war correspondent, she focuses on the still fragile and already faded iconography of the five years of the Triple Alliance. After all, it was one of the first wars registered by the realism of newly invented photography. Thus, photo by photo, portrait by portrait, Elisa discovers a gallery of amazing female characters linked to the war and realizes she has been completely absorbed by the investigation of the stories and psychological aspect of these extraordinary women. Moreover, this is how she becomes the guiding principle of "DESTINADAS", bringing not only a female perspective to conduct this present action, but also a contemporary reflection of the narrated facts.
In supporting roles to aide young Elisa’s research, there are two experts whose mission is to articulate the "clues" found on the "DESTINADAS": psychoanalyst MÁRCIA CÂMARA (member of the Psychoanalytic Society of Rio de Janeiro) and PhD in gender studies LUANA TVARDOSKAS (UNICAMP) join the adventure through the windows of webchats, guiding Elisa’s path and analyzing the psyche and behavior of these women we perceive.
