    • Synopsis
    • Delivery (which also means childbirth and liberation or release) is a film about the marginal life of Athens, a city that could be any modern metropolis where the homeless, the immigrants and displaced persons of every sort provide the dominant tone. The protagonist in Delivery is a young man (something between a fallen angel and an aphasic) who comes out of nowhere and in the end flies off to nowhere. With no name (they call him: Gagarin, Suleiman, Pizza Boy, Priest’s son, etc.) he wanders around in the displaced reality of Athens, delivering pizzas. He constitutes a living tribute to slowness, in a city that worships speed. That is why he thinks slowly, speaks slowly, eats slowly, rides his moped slowly. And because everything takes place inside his head, just by batting his eyelashes he punishes all those who try to convince him that he is just like them. The only person who attempts to bridge the delivery boy’s inaccessible loneliness is a girl who works in the same pizza place. A junkie with whom he has a brief, haphazard erotic relationship.if the junkie in the pizza place gives him a crash course in love, the Water Seller (former gravedigger and now a police informer) teaches him all about death, through a painfully amusing visit to the cemetery. His spectacular take-off at the end of the film occurs when someone gives him a hand¬out (thereby essentially making him a beggar) and only then does he kill (in other words takes his fate in his own hands).Yet the film’s invisible protagonist are the intersecting “voices” of the exiles of modern life which make up a long, fragmented “black” fairy tale.Naturally all these things happen with the proper touch of parody since under the Attic sky all things - even the most inhuman - are bathed in the light of parody and tenderness.
