    • Synopsis
    • Days of dictatorship recounts the dramatic times of Marcos Perez Jimenez's mandate in Venezuela in the 1950's when the country finally enters modernity, but pays a high cost in abuses and human rights violations.
The government propels public works and ostentatious carnivals, while the Seguridad Nacional -the regime's police force- muzzles political parties, the media and Venezuelans. The are times of economical progress, but difficult for those who figth for democracy, resist living without freedom and thus are condemned to clandestinity, prison, exile or even death.
Days of Dictatorship was the biggest box office hit of any feature length documentary in Venezuelan history. It confronted -and sensitized- the audiences to a historical issue common to all Latin-Americans: dictatorship in all its manifestations.
