    • Synopsis
    • MARIA is a young successful stage actress in Bulgaria and dreams big. After a theater performance she is in the dressing room and gives an autograph to a young girl, advising her to follow her dreams. Cut to: Today. She now lives in the suburbs of Orange County, Southern California. 13 years, a husband and two kids later, she hasn’t given up her dream to make it big in Hollywood. Since the family cannot afford to pay for daycare or a babysitter, Maria has sent her 4-year old daughter STELLA to live with her mother ELENA in Bulgaria for a few months, in order to pursue acting full time. However, she is not having a lot of luck.

First of all, Maria has to take care of their 9-year-old piano prodigy son Danny, while constantly going to last-minute auditions. Her Croatian husband STEFAN has a full-time job and can’t watch him. Therefore she is forced to take her son with her to an audition. While Maria is trying out for the role of yet another Russian prostitute, Danny gets bored and signs up to audition in the room next door. When Maria gets out, her son is gone. She panics but suddenly Danny shows up claiming he was using the bathroom.

Maria is overly excited when she gets an email for a callback next day. She goes to it with
Danny again but to her disappointment and dismay, the callback is not for her. It’s for him! Maria is alarmed. She doesn’t want her son to get into the dirty business of entertainment.
