Is Rose Day losing her mind? The French actress, once internationally celebrated as Hélène Troye, the diva of silent film, is finding it difficult to distinguish reality from fiction. Her husband, the eminent Afro-American surgeon Dr William Day, is at a loss as to how to treat his wife's increasing paranoia. Disgraced for having performed 'unnecessary operations,' Dr Day has nonetheless devised a special treatment for Rose. What develops, however, is a suite of spectacular dream states that reveal the workings of a labyrinthine mind possessed and trapped in a web of mythological proportions.
