    • Synopsis
    • The third film in our Dostoyevsky-LA Project (following "Shades of Day" & "Notes From the New World") - a re-envisioning of Dostoyevsky's classic novel transported to LA during the riots of 1992.

The script was the winner of the European Co-Production Matchmaking Program of South by Southwest Festival: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Winners-Announced-European-Co-Production-Match-Making-Program

This recasting of Dostoyevsky's novel is set against the backdrop of the L.A. riots of 1992. ROD, a film student, is obsessed with the idea that history's movers and shakers are not bound by conventional morality. He’s able to test his theory when he bludgeons an elderly countess to death. The ensuing cat and mouse game is but the central thread in a tapestry of deceit. When a deceptively awkward detective takes on the case, Rod is forced to confront, not only the external threat, but his inner demons and miraculously finds himself on the road to redemption.
