    • Synopsis
    • From the backcountry scenery, from the harsh land, reddish and with branches wriggled by the drought, a figure emerges: brave and leathered men, fearless because of their own workmanship. The documentary "Vaqueiros" is about central themes of Ceará's inland, like the drought, the regulation of the profession of the "vaqueiros" (cowboys) and the controversy about the "vaquejadas" (a local version of rodeo). At the same time, it shows the strengh of the cowboys' wives and their relationship with their husbands' cows and oxes. The documentary is also about the "vaqueiros" hard work. The audience can see, for instance, the reconstruction of "Boi Moleque"'s story, one of the bravest oxes from Ceará's inland: a shiny black ox, with arched horns and extremely valiant, that no brave man could ever tame.
