    • Synopsis
    • In Venezuela the relentless battle between the Chavista regime and its opponents has lasted for over 24 years.

From the bowels of a devastated country to the corridors of international politics, a group of exiles, who have suffered persecution, torture and imprisonment in their own flesh, reveal the methods of a regime that has caused the most serious humanitarian crisis in the history of South America and has turned Venezuela into a refuge for totalitarian regimes hostile to western democracies.

The narrators of this saga, coming from very diverse social backgrounds, are parents whose children were brutally murdered, activists whose only crime was going out to protest; leaders who have risked their lives, were imprisoned, tortured, persecuted and now, from exile, continue the fight on the international stage.

COMBATE chronicles the story of Chavismo during the mandates of Chávez, Maduro and Guaidó, tracing the effects of authoritarian populism, whether from the left or the right, beyond the ideological extremes that are plunging the world into a global battlefield.

In the fight for control of Venezuela, the most powerful countries in the international chess game face each other: the United States, the European Union and more than 50 democracies against the regimes of Cuba, China, Russia, Turkey and Iran.

To help us define the context, we have captured the analysis of historians who examine with a clinical eye the inexorable process of a regime that promised a socialist paradise and became a dictatorship that unscrupulously violates human rights, as the UN, the OAS and the International Criminal Court have denounced.

Evoking murders, demonstrations, attempts at dialogue, and infighting, our story is filled with fascinating characters, devastating revelations and unpredictable reversals of fortune.

The result is a moving journey to the heart of the tragedy, a revealing exploration of Chavismo and a panoramic vision of the Geopolitical landscape.
