    • Synopsis
    • Jonah is 17 years old and has only some vague memory of what the world was before the frost would sweep away it all, 15 years earlier. The 3 boys he grew up with, David, Maya and Tobey, are too young to remember. They live with Amos, the man who saved them at the time of the great frost and protected and fed them up to that point, in an old villa in a valley. Amos, however, is a religious fanatic, thinks that for the survivors as they are, salvation will arrive, just wait. But Jonah is convinced that somewhere in the south, the ice is starting to melt. He is convinced that the dreams he has are real memories and not just visions. The boys decide to abandon Amos to venture in search of those ships that Jonah says will bring them to the south. For the first time they find themselves alone against the cold. In a tunnel they find a man who offers to guide them. Arrived in an old factory he sells them in change for alcohol and sex. They spend a few weeks working as slaves in a power plant that lights up at night in a way for them which is strikingly different from the fire they were used to. One night, they take advantage of a fault and of the dark to escape and continue on their journey. After a few days of travel, with their great amazement, they come across a steam train in motion. Pirates anarchists is what they like to call themselves the train travelers who use it to move and to live through looting and even cannibalism. They take the three with them. But soon, one night, Maya convinces Jonah to abandon the pirates. That evening for the first time they make love. At dawn, they manage to steal the train and they travel south until the track stops in front of a large frozen lake. They have to cross it on foot. David closes the row but suddenly the ice opens beneath his feet. The three survivors decide to go ahead and later they arrive in Venice, snowy and with the frozen canals, where a large community is safely surviving. For months they recline in those peaceful rhythms. They are now a family, and they seem happy. In fact, Jonah's dream has not been extinguished yet. One morning he abandons them to get back in gear. A march that leads him to the extreme. But Maya, who has followed his tracks, manages to save him. Shortly after, a signal rocket illuminates the night sky: it is the legendary ship approaching. Jonah and Maya look at each other, desperate and happy.
