    • CHAOS THEORY is set in a near future in which a handful of people are Vortexes: unwitting agents who can manipulate world affairs with the Butterfly Effect. One such Vortex is a man named Tim. This is his story.

TIM FLUERY (30s), a happy but cynical political staffer to the Mayor of Minneapolis, is a Vortex of unusual size and power! When a super-secret U.S. Government agency gets wind of his special skills they send in their top recruiter, the empathically-challenged JILL BLAKE (20s), to kidnap Tim in hopes of using his power for their own gain. Jill explains he’s a nuclear weapon in the ongoing economic war for global power and suggests he join their team. Tim is flattered, and just a little bit smitten, but scoffs at her claims. He gives Jill one shot to prove she’s telling the truth; And to his surprise, Tim’s mundane choices have a chain reaction that ends in a party for U.S. stock prices!

Now a true believer, Tim dives headlong into this surreal world. Whether preventing the purchase of an oversized Slurpee, having his perfectly healthy tooth extracted, or being casually circumcised, Tim – ever the patriot – will do what he must to see the lives of his fellow citizen improve. Little does he know the toxic by-product he is foisting upon the rest of the world. Tim is living the dream and falling fast for Jill when it all goes awry. He discovers the fatal flaw in the algorithm when a rival Russian agency that uses the same technology kidnaps and forces Tim to act in ways that will improve the Russian economy at the expense of the U.S. Tim realizes all the good his actions have on his country and its economy and political standing comes at the cost of hurting another.

In a daring rescue Tim is freed, but his patriotic mojo is gone flaccid. He refuses to cooperate and rails at Jill for colluding with them. She has her own crisis of conscience, and together she and Tim escape from the highly-secure complex. Now on the run from the clutches of an organization hell-bent on making America great at the expense of everyone else, Tim and Jill, once patriots are branded renegades – traitors to their country.

Hacking the massive supercomputer, Tim and Jill forecast their own list of actions that must be completed if they are going to take down the entire Agency. Each action more dangerous than the last, Tim and Jill barely stay ahead of the Agency’s pursuit. And when the Agency catches them, Jill’s secret is revealed: according to the algorithm, so long as the two love each other, Tim will continue to be a Vortex, and his choices can always be used as a weapon. Tim is forced to choose to either sacrifice the person he loves for the greater good or be with the one he loves and risk wreaking havoc on the world.
