    • Synopsis
    • Caterina Bueno – The voice of Tuscany is a film aimed at telling Caterina Bueno's life and precious activity as folk singer and oral folk songs seeker.
Born in Fiesole in 1943, daughter of a Spanish painter (Xavier Bueno) and a Swiss writer (Julia Chamorel), Bueno had always been interested in Tuscan dialect, so she learned to play guitar as an autodidact and began travelling trough Tuscany to record and play local popular songs.
Her work became well known between the Sixties and the Seventies, but Bueno's aim was not gaining in fame or success, she wanted to know the human nature through the old and spontaneous expression of the popular traditional oral songs.
Her repertoire runs between social and political songs, folk songs about emigration, nursery rhymes, lullabies, ballads and ironic contrasts. They are songs about very actual issues: the toil of work, love, death, injustice and abuse, but also the desire to forget the problems of everyday life.
The film follows the most important stages of the Bueno's journey - including pubs, people's houses and farms in the middle of the Tuscan countryside and the mountains - thanks to testimonies and interviews with musicians and artists with whom she collaborated, such as the Nobel prize winner Dario Fo, Gianna Nannini, Francesco De Gregori, David Riondino, Simone Cristicchi, Piero Pelù, Nada and so on.
