    • Samantha L. Moxley, aka Captain Moxley, is a woman torn between her quest to uncover the truth behind a supernatural encounter in WWII and her responsibility to enjoy her post-war survival with the little family she has left. Yet when the two worlds collide, and she believes her younger sister, Jessica, has been kidnapped by the same secretive government agency for which she has been investigating ancient ‘unsolvable’ mysteries, Captain Moxley has no choice but to dive back into danger to save her.

Instead she finds Jessica alive and well—and emulating her older sister’s renowned efforts in the field as part of a daring team that brought back a priceless artefact, the Osirus Amulet. However, the team are unaware of its true importance. For it is one of two keystones to the fabled Hall of Records, depository of the secrets of Atlantis, and the goal of the government agents who will stop at nothing to claim it.

Together with Jessica and Jessica’s new flame, Dr Will Sandford, Captain Moxley is persuaded into undertaking one last mission to save the world—this time from the very men she used to work with.

They head to Paris, seeking the help of Captain Moxley’s wartime friend, allied-German Edward “Teddy” Ascher, an old lecturer in ancient history and archaeology who just happens to have been on the trail of the legendary Hall of Records all his life. In this ancient city they journey deep in the catacombs beneath Notre Dame to retrieve the second keystone.

Yet things don’t go to plan, and while the artefact is recovered, Captain Moxley and Will are lost to the relentless agents Taylor—Captain Moxley’s ex-lover—and Smith. Taken to Egypt, Captain Moxley now discovers the true nature of who they are up against, and the dire consequences for the world should she fail to stop them. So as the enemy heads for the entrance to the Hall, Captain Moxley escapes and chases them down, with fatal results.

With Will dead, Captain Moxley’s relationship with Jessica finally breaks beyond all repair. She and Teddy are left to navigate the journey to the underworld alone, with the agents and the Egyptian army in hot pursuit. But though they eventually beat their foe to the prize and the secrets of Atlantis are revealed, when Captain Moxley finally gives up her quest for the truth and chooses family over any potential fortune and glory, she finds that her own sister—now a shadowy reflection of herself—turns against her.
