    • Synopsis
    • Josh (Lucas Till) lives the fast life. He is the most popular DJ in New York, and spends his nights performing – and partying hard – at the hottest club in the city. He is days away from being signed by a major label and is on his way to a life of fame and fortune, all at only 17 years old.

But after an accidental drug overdose, with his mother’s (Maria Bello) blessing he is sentenced by the court to live out the rest of his underage year in the custody of his estranged father (Tom Everett Scott) in the small army town of Paragon, North Dakota. He is quickly enrolled in the local high school, where he plans to keep a low profile until he can ride out the end of his sentence and get back to New York.

His plan is crushed when he is recruited by Mary, the captain of the school’s struggling dance team, to mix the music for their routines. When the team wins their first competition in seven years on the strength of their new DJ, Josh softens and starts to consider that the small town may be less of a “sentence” than he feared. Through court-ordered sessions with an oft-indolent psychotherapist (Josh Duhamel), his stunning performances with the school’s now-competitive dance team, and his blossoming relationship with Mary, Josh begins to discover the depth of his pain and find empathy for the people of the town who carry the burden of lost loved ones from recent wars. And when he meets Mary’s troubled mother (Laura Dern), still reeling from the loss of her son, Josh finds that his presence in the town may be of an importance far beyond anything he could have imagined.

With dazzling dance routines and set to the backbeat of the groundbreaking Electronic Dance Music scene, BRAVETOWN tells the story of a boy with an extraordinary musical talent set on a journey to find what he was looking for the least, but undoubtedly needed the most.
