    • Synopsis
    • JUNIOR (20) a Haitian man, has been living in Chile for 2 years, in a small room that he rents with FRANCIA (20), his Chilean girlfriend. Junior is a worker, he’s tied into an abusive contract and to FRANCISCO (55),the exploitative boss. Francia, on the other hand, studies art and doesn’t work. Their relationship is in a fragile state, but Junior will soon be working for two years under contract, therefore being able to ask for permanent residency. He hopes this means stop working so much, so he can save the relationship. One day, by accident, Junior ruins Francia’s artwork and the relationship breaks. He, desperate, steals a tool at his job in order to fix the art piece. His boss Francisco founds out, and asks Junior sexual favors so he can keep his job. Junior needs that residency, so he cedes. He then goes to the local Haitian Church and, riddled with guilt, confesses to his pastor. The pastor gets upset by the incident and throws Juniors out of the church community. Junior comes back to his room, and sees that Francia left. Junior doesn’t go back to work.

A year goes by. Junior rents a room in a poor neighborhood. Next door lives a delinquent gang and FRANCO, a junkie that always is bothering Junior. Junior now lives off selling products in the streets of Santiago, along with RICKY ,a Peruvian anarchist that taught all the tricks of the trade, and cares about him. But Junior wants to change his illegal status so he can get a decent job and settle down. He goes to a Foundation, looking for counseling, and meets DYLAN (23) a legal intern that takes his case. When Ricky finds out about Junior’s intentions, he goes to the cops and snitchs on him. Junior is arrested and charged with a fine. Dylan bails out Junior, and tells him that this incident makes even worse his legal status. But Dylan also says to Junior that he must keep having hope and offers him the money to pay his fine. Junior accepts. Dylan waits in a park, with the money for Junior, but he’s suddenly mugged by Franco. Franco and Junior split the money.
