    • Synopsis
    • On February 20th, 2000, the President of the Republic of Cameroon set up a special police force unit, named Operational Commandment, to fight banditry. In one years’ time, this unit ran rampant and like a death squadron, killed over a thousand persons. In January 2001, nine young people were arrested, and then disappeared. Nine more deaths, nine deaths too many: the population finally got out on the streets to protest, and the press finally reacted. As a result of rising public pressure, Operational Commandment was dissolved, but only eight of its members have appeared before a military tribunal. More than six years later, nothing has been resolved.
