    • Behind the Red Nose Is a documentary feature film in development that explores identity, comedy and
clowning from a female perspective. Delving into "Coulrophobia- (fear of clowns) and WHY people love or hate clowns.

Behind the Red Nose aims to take an unforgettable look at life behind the clown’s infamous red nose. We are guided by Blyss, the sassy, comedic, once burlesque clown, now mother, into the never seen before private world of four notorious female clowns.

Explore the journey of Blyss (S. Siobhan McCarthy), Izzy (Shannan Calcutt), Sarah Buski (Ponzo) and Rachel
Ellie (Joe) four of North America's top female clowns. See how and if their roles as mothers drastically
changed the tone of their performance art and examine the why and wherefore of societal pressures.

From the “dressing room- backstage” — where the real heart of the circus beats — explore a distinctive world
with its own rules, lingo and no fixed address.
Through this feature film, the audience will come to learn that not all clowns are created equal and that there are many types of clowns. The Performative Clown, the Pochenko Clown, the Red Nosed Clown, the Whitefaced Clown, the Busking Balloon Twisting Clown, and the dreaded Birthday Clown.

We discover why society loves, hates and fears clowns. Get involved with four diverse female clowns who wear make up/ masks as a means to reveal their truths. Share in their fears and frustrations, triumphs and failures and find out what it really means to live life as a clown.
