    • Synopsis
    • There is an asteroid that travels through deep space. It wanders lost in the main asteroid belt trapped by the gravitational force of Mars and Jupiter and from the earth it’s seen only on very seldom occasions. It is a stellar speck that holds the secret of an eccentric man whose history would be trapped in trunks for decades, until one day someone would discover them and with them the story of Federico Rutllant, the Chilean astronomical legend, would be revealed. .

Federico was a young professor of physics and mathematics who lived throughout the 40’s and 50’s. Although he was a well-known teacher and practiced with the greatest possible dedication, what Federico really longed for was to be an astronomer. He was a man of fixed ideas and everything he set out to do he achieved. So when he found out that the British Council was offering scholarships to study in Cambridge, he didn’t hesitate a second to apply, pursuing a Doctorate in Astrophysics, not caring at all about the dangers and conflicts of World War II.

The trip leaves Federico wondering about interplanetary flight and space observation as he takes advantage of the "space fever" to position Chile as the southern astronomical capital. Obstinate, he fought against everything to achieve his purpose, summoning astronomers from the whole world to this isolated and small country. Nothing would ever be so important to Federico, his whole life was leading up to that moment and no one, not even his family, would stand in the way of this stubborn man and his dreams.

Seeking immortality he decided to live a life full of fame and achievements, renouncing to a common one. But just as he’s reaching the summit of his career it takes a turn that will lead him to leave the Observatory forever and be forgotten as an astronomer. Confused and without having where to go Federico recruits himself in Viña del Mar. But while living there, he discovers that the life he wanted, was only possible in the “world of the mortals”, where happiness and achievement were much closer than what he thought.
