    • Synopsis
    • Jarmo has a vivid imagination, which worries his parents and his older sister. He is going to start school after the summer, and his family is a bit concerned: how will Jarmo’s wild imagination fit into the world of school and all its limits.

Jarmo’s parents are in the middle of a serious crisis and they are considering a divorce. They have told Jarmo and his sister about their plans, and Jarmo takes the matter seriously. Relying on his imagination, he tries to solve the issues between his parents and within the family. The parents, however, only continue to distance themselves from each another and focus on their own strange hobbies. Jarmo’s father hunts for flies while his mother sews most peculiar garments for herself.

Jarmo meets a man, Arnold Cautious, who lives in an abandoned, small wooden house on the outskirts of the city. Cautious introduces himself as a degenerated vampire. He was once kicked out of his job as a state official because he wasn't able to follow the work protocol. Cautious is disappointed with humanity, with two-faced adults in particular, and avoids contact with them. His secret dream, though, has been to help and teach people. Jarmo and Cautious become friends. Cautious has his grandmother’s old secret recipe book, where they also find a recipe for making a Lucky Stone. It is a stone that makes its owner happy. Jarmo wants the stone for his parents, to help save their marriage.

Jarmo and Cautious try to make the Lucky Stone. The recipe book is old and its ink has faded at places, which is why the full meaning of the instructions is difficult to understand. The two friends experiment with different mixtures, but fail repeatedly. Jarmo’s parents’ relationship cools even further.

At some point Jarmo realizes that Cautious is in need of help as well. Cautious is in love, but he is afraid to approach the woman and mail her the love letters he keeps writing in the evenings. Jarmo finds the letters and delivers them to Cautious’s crush. When both Jarmo and Cautious help each other out, the recipe in faded ink becomes clearer to them: in addition to the Lucky Stone its owner needs to have enough self-esteem. Or the stone won’t work. That is also what Jarmo’s parents are missing, especially his father.

Jarmo encourages his parents, which through some misadventures helps them to see each other in a new light, like in the old days. They want to start to work on their relationship and stay together. Cautious faces his crush and the feeling between them is mutual, which helps Cautious in daring to be around other people again. Jarmo starts school at the end of summer and he still isn’t sure how to face the school protocol. When school starts, he discovers that his teacher is Arnold Cautious.

The music and the songs carry the story forward significantly.
